A hotel amenity is judged on two things a gym never worries about: how it looks in the room, and what happens when an unsupervised guest uses it wrong. Those constraints rule out a lot of equipment that is perfectly good elsewhere.
Hotel, resort and residential-property operators adding a wellness amenity.
If the amenity is going to be a booked, staffed treatment with a therapist, that is closer to med spas & aesthetics — the staffing constraint below stops applying.
Everywhere else in this business you can put an ugly machine in a back room and nobody cares. In hospitality the unit is part of the guest experience the moment they see it, and it has to survive design review. Ask for the finish options early — the ECabin comes in Crystal White or Carbon Grey, and XCryo in the same two, which is the difference between a unit that reads as spa and one that reads as equipment. The saunas are a different conversation: a eucalyptus-interior cabin generally reads well in a spa setting, and sizing runs from one person up to a four-person commercial cabin depending on the room you have.
The decision underneath everything else is whether this is included in the stay or sold as a service. Included amenities need to be short, self-explanatory and hard to misuse — guests will not read instructions. Sold services need booking, staffing and a payment path, which is a different operation. Short-protocol equipment suits the included model: the ECabin runs 1-3 minute automated sessions with a head-out design. Longer-session equipment like an infrared cabin suits a booked model, or an amenity with a sign-up sheet.
The single most important filter for a hotel is what happens when a guest uses the unit alone, at 11pm, having had a drink. Prefer equipment with the safety engineering built in rather than procedures on a laminated sign. Head-out cabin designs, automatic shut-offs, temperature sensors and proximity detection are real risk reduction — XCryo, for example, carries thermal-shock LEDs, dual skin-temperature sensors, proximity detection and auto shut-off. Electric cryo also means there is no nitrogen on the property, which is a liability and storage problem you simply do not want in a hotel. Your insurer and your counsel should see the spec sheet before you buy; we are not the right people to write your waiver.
Hotel wellness rarely earns its way as a standalone P&L line, and pretending otherwise makes the internal case weaker, not stronger. It is justified the same way a good gym or a good pool is: rate, occupancy, reviews and competitive parity with the property down the road. Build the case on those terms. On the mechanics: lower-ticket items check out with Affirm, Klarna or Afterpay through Stripe, and larger purchases go through Approve. [RICK: do any hotel or resort clients charge separately for these, or is it always folded into a resort fee? Whatever you have actually seen — that is the useful answer here]
Chosen for finish, guest safety and low-touch operation. Sauna pricing is consult-only because sizing and finish get decided with you.
A two-person eucalyptus cabin reads as spa rather than equipment, and infrared is the amenity guests already understand without explanation.
The four-person cabin if the spa is a destination rather than a floor amenity — built for back-to-back commercial sessions.
Nitrogen-free, fully automated, head-out design with a touchscreen — a guest can run it alone, and there is no gas on your property.
Full-body red light with forced-air cooling. Immediately legible to guests and a credible reason to book the spa rather than the gym.
Cheap, portable and genuinely self-service. A reasonable way to add a recovery touch to a fitness room without a capital project.
Amenity purchases usually have a procurement process and a timeline. Both facts below matter more to you than the payment structure.
Some, by design — automated cabins and compression are built for it. Others should not be unsupervised. Tell us your staffing hours and we will separate the two honestly, because getting this wrong is a safety problem, not a service problem.
It varies by unit. The ECabin and XCryo come in Crystal White or Carbon Grey. Sauna cabins use a sustainably sourced eucalyptus interior. Ask us before design review rather than after.
New equipment runs a standard 6-8 week lead time drop-shipped. Refurbished units are local and ship in days. Neither figure includes your own electrical or millwork.
Tell us the space, your staffed hours, and who has to approve the finish. We will tell you what fits and what will fail design review — before you spend the meeting on it.
